OK, let's go way back: Georges Boulanger first penned this beautiful ballad as "Avant de Mourir" ("Before Dying") in 1926, the year my Mom was born. Jimmy Kennedy added English lyrics in '39, the same year that Glenn Miller took it to #2 and The Ink Spots to #3.
