OK, back to the 50's: This Brooklyn-based R&B/doo-wop group was formed in '57 by former members of The Chesters and The Duponts. Their original name was changed by Alan Freed to include the lead singer's nickname. Their first recording under their new name came in '58 with a Bradford/Lewis composition. An instant hit, it peaked at #4, was their first million-seller and is considered a doo-wop classic. Covered by Sha Na Na in "Grease" and Kylie Minogue's version was an international hit in '89/'90.
